No-exam life insurance

Understanding accelerated underwriting eligibility, how the process operates, and what happens if standard underwriting applies.

Many carriers now offer accelerated underwriting: for applicants within specific age and benefit limits, they approve using the application information, pharmacy records, driving history and other sources rather than scheduling an exam. Some approvals happen within hours. Every rate quote on this page indicates whether an exam is expected, might be requested, or is not expected for that specific option.

What it changes

No exam doesn't mean skipped underwriting. Your responses undergo verification, and policies based on inaccurate information may be challenged within the initial two-year period. Should the carrier's research uncover issues, they might request additional exams or testing; you remain free to continue or stop.

Who tends to qualify

Typically, applicants who are under roughly 60 years old, seeking coverage within the carrier's accelerated limits, without serious health complications, and who don't use tobacco in the prior year or longer. If you've had a recent medical visit that included bloodwork, select carriers may accept those results instead of ordering new testing.

Should an exam become necessary, a trained examiner typically conducts a 20- to 30-minute session at your residence or workplace in the Palm Springs area, free of charge to you. For many individuals in good health, an exam can lead to a more favorable underwriting category, so it's not necessarily detrimental.
